Dr. Ayşe Tiryakioğlu started working as a postdoc at the Mathematics Engineering Department
Dr. Ayşe Tiryakioğlu, a graduate of the Gebze Technical University began working as a postdoc at the Mathematics Department in September 2024.
Dr. Tiryakioğlu is one of the first postdoctoral researchers in ITU who was employed according to the regulations of Council of Higher Education (YÖK), Higher Education Law No. 2547, Annex 34.
Dr. Ayşe Tiryakioğlu completed her undergraduate and graduate studies at the Mathematics Department of Gebze Technical University, where she also worked as a research assistant during her graduate education. She carried out her doctoral studies on scattering from circular cylindrical waveguides with successive expansion and contraction discontinuities, using Wiener-Hopf and scattering matrices techniques together. Her publications included outputs in which she mainly used the Wiener-Hopf technique to study the diffraction, scattering and radiation of sound waves coming from inside or outside waveguides.
Dr. Tiryakioğlu is one of the first postdoctoral researchers in ITU who was employed according to the regulations of Council of Higher Education (YÖK), Higher Education Law No. 2547, Annex 34. Her post started in September 2024. She will carry out her scientific works within the GAP project “Lie Symmetries in Rosenau and Davey-Stewartson Type Wave Equations” funded by the Scientific Research Projects Department of Istanbul Technical University (BAP). The project is conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cihangir Özemir from the Mathematics Department.
In this project, Dr. Tiryakioğlu will study two different families of equations which arise in continuum mechanics, fluid mechanics and plasma physics. The outcomes of the project are expected to shed light on algebraic properties of these partial differential equations. Also, the analytical and theoretical results will support the current literature and bring new insights on possible directions for future studies.
