PhD student Mahmure Avey, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Semra Ahmetolan from the Department of Mathematical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University, will be giving a seminar titled "The nonlinear free vibration analysis of laminated nanocomposite plates on the Pasternak elastic foundation" on June 13, 2023 at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
Mahmure Avey is currently conducting research at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany, supported by a DAAD scholarship.
The seminar will focus on the investigation of nonlinear vibration behaviors exhibited by laminated plates composed of carbon nanotube (CNT) layers on the Pasternak elastic foundation, using the first-order plate theory (FOPT). The distribution of CNTs throughout the layer thickness is assumed to be uniform and functionally graded. The NL-PDEs (nonlinear partial differential equations) derived from Donnell-type nonlinear shell theory will be solved using the Galerkin method and semi-inverse method. Within the framework of FOPT, the seminar will establish the nonlinear frequency-amplitude relationship for laminated nanocomposite plates on the Pasternak elastic foundation. The impact of elastic soil properties, CNT volume ratio, CNT distribution, layer arrangement, and number on the nonlinear frequency of the laminated plates will be investigated.
